Hi everyone! My name is Su, and I'm thrilled to introduce myself as "RobotSakura", the creator of handcrafted amigurumi plushies, custom toys, and accessories. πΎ Pictured here are our cats, "Mew-Ji" and "Jack-Jack" who are our adorable 'supervisors' ^_^
Our journey into the world of cute kawaii crochet stuffies was sparked last year by the joy of purchasing my first handmade amigurumi-style crochet doll. It fit so well with our existing plushies, but still looked so unique!
Crafting has been a lifelong passion for me as I started making stuffed toys at the age of 14. In 2023 with the unwavering support of my partner (who assists with assembly, photo editing, and website design!) we embarked on a delightful adventure together to bring our own style to plush toy making.
Since then, we've expanded our product line based on items we love to use ourselves too. These include custom illustrated 5mm laminated pet placemats, catnip toys, and more!
Our hope is that our little creations bring as much happiness into your lives as they do into ours.

β° Plans for 2024 β±
As we reflect on our first year as vendors at local markets, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us along the way. Your presence has made this journey truly special. β‘
ββ° Embracing the Joy of Play β±β The Impact of Toys on Childhood Development
As a teacher, I believe one of the most cherished aspects of childhood is the joy of play. Scientific research has underscored the pivotal role of this activity - particularly when accompanied by stuffed toys - in a child's development of self-expression and social empathy.
An great article on this topic titled "Toys and Creativity" by Eda Yazgin, published in the Journal for the Education of Gifted Young Scientists, which delves into the significance of self-chosen toys in fostering a child's growth. It's an interesting read!
We recently received a heartwarming photo from a customer, showcasing their child's playful interaction with our Jumbo-sized "Big Bunny" purchased from RobotSakura. It's evident that this little one has grasped the importance of safety firsthand πβ‘ (β βΏβ βΏ)
Last year, we noticed that our cats preferred blue and yellow toys, but would largely ignore orange or red colored items. That got us thinking... How do we know which colours (colors) dogs and cats see? - Science and testing:
To
help keep our cat's Food and water bowl areas clean, we applied animal colour
vision theory preference to Mew-Ji and Jack-Jack's placements:
Just like their favourite toys, animals were more likely to sit near a food mat when placed in a new location if it was a colour that stood out to their eyes more: Items in shades of Yellow and Blue!
Interested to learn more about the science behind animal vision and how it differs from our own? Here's some further reading:
